Last month, David attended the meeting of the Benedictines who communities are from East Asia and Oceania to represent the Australian and New Zealand Benedictine Union. There were thirty seven monks and nuns who attended the Conference – there was a large representation from the host country.

At the meeting, reports were received from all countries of the life and activities of the communities in that region: reports were received from Vietnam, Korea, Philippines, China, Japan, Taiwan, and Oceania.

Guests joined with the local monastic community for prayer and meals each day.

There was a visit to one of the local indigenous groups which is supported by the Monastery of the Transfiguration.

Plans were set in place for the next meeting of the Conference in two years time. Korea, Australia and Taiwan were suggested as possible venues.
